Nicole is a pain physiotherapist (ACP, APA) and senior mindfulness instructor (Meditation Australia). She is deeply committed and experienced in working with intractable pain and to the scientific and experiential inquiry of the Mindbody system -particularly the interface between pain and suffering and the arising potential for insight and growth.
Nicole was a neurological physiotherapist before dedicating her practice to the lived experience of persistent pain. Nicole’s interest in the Psycho-neuro-immuno-endocrine ‘Super System’, and the healing potential of bioplasticity is also a personal one, observed through nurturing meditative and embodiment practices since the age of fifteen. Nicole has undergone intensive training in retreat centers and ashrams (in the Vipassana tradition) throughout Australia, England, Germany, Thailand, India, and Sri Lanka. In 2016 Nicole was accepted as a registered mindfulness-based interventions teacher with the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australasia.
Nicole has consulted across tertiary and community interdisciplinary pain services alongside leading medical pain specialists. In 2018 she was awarded a titled membership to the Australian College of Physiotherapists in pain management.
Nicole is a certified Pain Reprocessing Therapy practitioner via the Pain Reprocessing Therapy Centre (USA) and has a special interest in diagnosing, assessing, and effectively treating a range of centrally-driven symptoms including persisting pain. Using a holistic, integrative neuroplasticity approach, she is passionate about empowering her clients to more effectively respond to their bodies, broaden visibility into the drivers of their symptoms, cultivate more self-compassion, and respond more effectively to themselves and the world around them.
Nicole is a board member and educator for Yoga for Pain Care Australia, the APA’s Victorian Pain Group, and the Electronic Persistent Pain Outcomes Collaboration (ePPOC) Clinical and Management Advisory Committee. Nicole is an active member of the Australian Pain Society (APA) and has presented at conferences, co-authored National guidelines, and more recently co-developed an interdisciplinary education package.
